South West Deputy manager network
Online
The South West deputy manager network is a regional network providing a dedicated space for deputies to discuss common challenges, examples of good practice, hear sector updates and provide peer to peer support. If you are a Deputy manager based in the South West in any type of care providing setting or service, your local network will be relevant and helpful to you. This month we will be talking about how Deputies often support care staff with Continuing Professional Development (CPD), but what about their own? Join locality managers Holly and Wenda for an interactive session looking at alternative types of CPD, 'hacks' to help make time for it and the Skills for Care resources available.

Digital champions community event
Online
This event will bring together digital champions local to your area, across England, and anyone else who is interested in becoming a digital champion in the adult care sector. This will be the third in a series of events aimed at supporting and raising the profile of digital champions to advocate and support the use of technology in the delivery of care, and to build on topics covered in previous sessions. Digital champions are individuals who work in the adult social care sector, who support and empower staff to use digital technology more effectively in the delivery of care, and who have increased confidence, understanding and motivation. During this event, you’ll be able to share learning and find out more about how other digital champions are supporting their colleagues and people drawing on care and support. You will also have the opportunity to work together to hear about solutions to common issues and find out about new digital and technology innovations, and resources that can support the continuous professional development of your workforce. This event will help us to build a community of digital champions who can work together to embed digital across the adult social care sector. Learning outcomes: To gain a deeper awareness and understanding of the role of digital champions and practical ways of fulfilling this role. Find out more about the resources available to support you as a digital champion or as an employer who supports digital champions. Connect with other digital champions in your local area and identify feasible steps, individual or collective, in how to support each other.

Registered manager webinar: Leading induction for a positive workplace culture
Online
Induction is a critical time for anyone joining social care – it’s an opportunity for managers and leaders to embed organisational values and culture, as well as support that new person to set a positive ongoing career experience. Good quality induction significantly reduces turnover rates and reduces the time taken for someone to become effective and productive in their role. This improves their knowledge and confidence, positively impacting peoples’ experience of care from the beginning of their careers. This webinar will show managers and leaders that a quality induction doesn’t need to be complicated, it needs to be planned and considered, creating a genuinely supportive culture. A panel of providers will highlight the importance of enabling your expectations to be clear, goals and ambitions to be shared and ensuring newcomers feel welcome and important to the team. Join us to hear about practical ideas that you can consider in your own organisations, ways in which to effectively demonstrate evidence to the CQC, and how you can make a difference
